Aerolase for Acne

Aerolase NeoClear is a short pulse, 1064 nanometer laser that penetrates deep into the dermis to target acne, acne scarring and normalize skin.

Frequently Asked Questions Aerolase For Acne
How does Aerolase Work?

Aerolase’s laser energy penetrates deeply into the skin and heats up sebaceous glands. The heat within the dermis reduces sebum output, reduces inflammation, and destroys Cutibacterium acnes (formerly Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes)) bacteria. As a result, you will see a significant reduction in acne as well as reduced skin redness, reduced pore size, and an overall improvement in skin texture.

Does the treatment hurt?

Aerolase is a virtually painless treatment. There is a warm sensation over the areas being treated with the laser. There is no numbing required with the treatment.

What does the treatment entail?

After the skin is cleaned and sterilized, the laser energy is applied to the targeted areas. Depending on the size of the area(s) treated, treatment time may vary between 10-20 minutes.

How many treatments will I need to see results?

Optimal clinical results require multiple (4-8) treatment sessions spaced 2-3 weeks apart.  However, each patient’s individual skin care needs may vary, so we ask you to have an initial consultation prior to undergoing treatment.

What can I expect after the treatment?

Due to the nature of the treatment, there is no significant downtime associated with the treatment and you can resume normal activities following the treatment.

When will I see results?

Many patients see results immediately after one treatment and further improvement following subsequent treatments.

Are there any limitations following the Aerolase treatment?

We ask you to apply SPF immediately following treatment to keep their skin protected and refrain from using any topical retinoids or strong chemical acid peels for the next 4-5 days.

Is Aerolase right for me?

Patients who are experiencing whiteheads/blackheads, pimples, and acne cysts are excellent candidates for the Aerolase treatment. This includes patients who have marked resistance to topicals and oral drugs for acne clearance. Due to the minimal-to-no downtime associated with the treatment, Aerolase is a quick and effective targeted laser treatment for patients who are looking to treat specific skin concerns with no downtime.
