IV Therapy

Proprietary SKORR IV infusion nutritional therapies were designed to target a variety of wellness needs by replenishing hydration, aiding recovery from illness or jet lag, restoring vitamin & nutrient levels, refreshing cosmetic appearance and revitalizing your overall well-being.

Most medications when given intravenously – IV antibiotics, for example – have more powerful biological effects. The same is true for intravenous vitamins.  Vitamins and minerals bypass the GI system are delivered right where they need to be – directly into the bloodstream.

Main ingredients of IV infusions

  • Vitamin C, the anti-oxidant properties of vitamin C and its role in collagen synthesis make vitamin C a vital molecule for skin health. It also boosts the immune system and fights the flu and viruses.
  • B vitamins improve the ability of the epidermis, the upper-most layer of the skin, to retain moisture leading to softer, smoother skin with less dryness and flakiness, and a reduction of fine lines. B vitamins also boost attention, focus, and energy.
  • Magnesium helps to relax and support every cell of the body.  It is a great supplement for athletic performance and recovery. Its stress-relieving abilities can help reduce stress-related skin irritations such as acne and rosacea.
  • Zinc and selenium help to support the thyroid, immune system and wound healing; fortify skin and prevent scarring.
  • Glutathione is the most powerful anti-oxidant. It brightens up your skin. Excellent for anti-aging, anti-cancer, and liver detox.
  • NAC is a powerful amino acid great for healthy lung function and tissue repair. It also enhances the production of glutathione.
  • Calcium is well-known for its key role in bone health, teeth, and bodily organs including the skin where it regulates skin’s many functions.

Fraxel Dual Non-Ablative Resurfacing

With Fraxel fractional resurfacing instead of the entire skin being remodeled and resurfaced with each treatment, a percentage, or a fraction, of the skin is resurfaced.

Fibroblast Therapy with Plasma Pen

Plasma fibroblast therapy is an aesthetic procedure designed to tighten and improve the firmness of skin via direct stimulation of own fibroblasts, collagen and elastin producing cells in the dermis.

Plasma fibroblast therapy uses a pen-like device that discharges a high-frequency electric current to small areas of the skin.  The plasma tip releases targeted current just above the surface of skin to create micro-injuries.

The thermal stimulation of fibroblasts leads to tissue regeneration and contraction visible clinically as skin tightening.

Plasma fibroblast therapy is a nonsurgical treatment that may be used to treat the aging skin, acne scars lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture offer mild-to-moderate skin tightening effects.  Areas commonly treated with plasma fibroblast for skin tightening include eyelids, neck, jawline, above the lips, arms.

According to a 2014 article published in the Journal of Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, the effects of plasma pen fibroblast collagen production lasts for up to 1 year after treatment.

What to expect?

While the procedure may vary slightly based on the location and size of the area treated, the basic steps typically include:

  • Cleansing the skin and applying a topical anesthetic (numbing) cream. You may need to wait about 30 minutes for the numbing cream to take effect.
  • Treating the designated skin area with the plasma pen. The pen will create small arcs of microcurrents that make small scab-like dots on the skin.
  • Application a cooling gel to minimize the tingling and burning sensation.

The procedure usually takes on average 30 to 60 minutes to perform.

The small crusted dots created by the plasma pen therapy scab over and fall off in about 1 week post treatment. Over the next couple of weeks, as your skin heals, it appears tighter and firmer.  Imprints of plasma pen might last several weeks to months.  Some people may see benefits from just one treatment, while others may require three treatments for maximal benefit.  The best candidates for this procedure are people with mild-to-moderate skin wrinkling.

You are not a good candidate for plasma fibroblast therapy if you:

  • are breastfeeding
  • are pregnant

Emsculpt

EMSCULPT is the latest technology in body contouring. EMSCULPT works to help tone specific areas of the body by simultaneous stimulation of muscle and/or removal of fat.

EMSculpt works by using HIFEM (high-intensity focused electromagnetic) energy that targets the motor neurons that innervate muscle. This induces supramaximal contraction that cannot be conventionally achieved through exercise. Increased muscle’s metabolic demand forces the body to respond by remodeling the targeted areas.

EMSculpt is able to treat

  1. larger body areas including the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs
  2. small more curved areas of the body including the arms, inner thighs, flanks, and calves

During the course of the 30 minute treatment, we gradually increase the intensity of the treatment specifically to the individual’s tolerance. The treatment combines a working phase, which includes the strengthening component, and a resting phase to help the muscle recover by breaking down metabolic byproducts such as lactic acid.

The treatment is not painful, but can get mildly uncomfortable with increasing intensity. We recommend for patients to regulate their breathing with each contraction and relaxation of the muscle; patients are instructed to exhale during the contraction and inhale during the relaxation of the muscle.

To ensure optimal results, the protocol requires the patient to do two treatments once a week for two weeks. This is a total of 4 sessions over 2 weeks with about 2-4 days in between with maximal clinically significant results achieved 4-6 weeks from the last treatment.

EMSculpt is able to address both aesthetic and medical concerns. The treatment allows for optimal toning of the muscle and providing the patient with amazing aesthetic results. EMSculpt treatments have also been shown to help treat other conditions as well including separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), chronic back and abdominal pain, and poor posture.

EMSCULPT has no major side effects. Patients may report that they have minor soreness, fatigue, and/or an increase in thirst post-treatment. Otherwise, EMSCULPT is extremely safe and non-invasive technology.

EMSCULPT is not recommended for patient’s with the following:

  • Metal Implants
  • Recent Surgery
  • Pregnancy
  • Active Hernias

Past medical and surgical history should always be discussed with Dr. Reszko prior to receiving treatment.

Coolpeel CO2 Resurfacing

CO2 lasers are the gold standard in treating wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other blemishes as well as skin tightening. Damaged skin is removed, or ablated, stimulating new collagen production.

CoolPeel is a new way to safely, effectively and comfortably deliver the benefits of a traditional CO2 resurfacing.  By targeting just the superficial layer of skin, damaged layer is removed revealing younger and healthier looking skin.

CoolPeel laser with SmartXide Tetra technology is a new generation, fractional ablative CO2 laser allowing effective skin resurfacing with minimal downtime due to its unique high energy and extremely short- energy pulses.

A full-face CoolPeel laser peel is a relatively quick treatment that can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes.  Numbing cream can be applied for approximately 15-30 mins for additional comfort.

CoolPeel laser is associate with minimal downtime. One can expect some redness similar to a sunburn.  Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep the skin hydrated and sun protected at all times.

After your CoolPeel you should avoid products like retinoids, alpha and beta-hydroxyacids for at least 1 week.

Chemical Peels

Unclog the pores, diminish colonization of the skin with acne-causing Propionibacterium acnes. They can address skin irregularities like discolorations and acne scarring. The area to be treated is thoroughly cleansed and the appropriate chemical solution is carefully applied. Both the solution and the length of time it is left on the skin will vary with skin type and whether a mild or moderate chemical peel treatment has been selected.

Glycolic Acid/Alpha Hydroxy Acid Peel

Glycolic acid is a member of the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) family of carboxylic acids. Glycolic acid is ideal for improvement of wrinkles, sun-related damage, uneven pigmentation, and acne. Once applied, glycolic acid chemically exfoliates the outer layer of skin (epidermis), revealing the underlying new skin and giving your skin an even, dewy texture. In addition, glycolic acid stimulates synthesis of new collagen and elastic fibers that strengthen the skin.

Glycolic acid and other alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are the mildest of the chemical peel formulas and produce light superficial peels. These types of peels provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who desire gradual improvement without associated side effects and long recovery periods. Concentrations can range from 20% to 70%. Optimal results are achieved after four to six sessions.

Candidates for glycolic acid peels include individuals with superficial lines and fine wrinkles of the face, neck, upper chest, arms, etc.; uneven pigmentation; enlarged facial pores; superficial acne scars; lentigines, age (liver) spots.

Indications for chemical peels:

Pigmentary disorders

  • Melasma
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Freckles
  • Lentigines
  • Facial melanoses

Acne

  • Superficial acne scars
  • Post acne pigmentation
  • Comedonal acne
  • Acne excoriée
  • Acne vulgaris – mild to moderately severe acne

Aesthetic

  • Photoaging
  • Fine superficial wrinkling
  • Dilated pores
  • Superficial scars

Epidermal growths

  • Seborrheic keratoses
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Warts
  • Milia
  • Sebaceous hyperplasia
  • Dermatosis papulosa nigra

Preparation for a Chemical Peel

  • For two weeks prior to chemical peel start washing your face with the glycolic or salicylic acid cleanser to prepare your skin for the procedure.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure. Apply a sunscreen with SPF 30 and higher as part of your daily regimen
  • One week prior to the peel stop the use of following treatments and products. The use of these products/treatments prior to your peel may increase the reactivity of the skin to the peel
  • Retin-A or Renova (Tretinoin), Tazorac or Avage (Tazorotene), Differin (Alapalene, Epiduo) and any other retinoinds such as retinol
  • Microdermabrasion or other resurfacing treatments, electrolysis, depilatories, waxing, bleaching agents for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment
  • Please update your medical history, including the following allergies, history of atopic dermatitis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, viral infection, collagen vascular disease, autoimmune disease.
  • On the day of your appointment, do not apply makeup, aftershave, or cologne. Avoid shaving on the day of the peel.
  • Wear loose clothing
  • Limit your sun exposure at least a month before the peel and practice strict sun protection measures for 2-3 months after the peel.

You may be prescribed medication to take prior to the treatment to prevent a bacterial and/or viral infection and topical medication to prepare the skin and decrease the risk of pigmentary changes.  Your skin must be free of active infections, including active cold sores (herpes simplex virus, herpes labialis, HSV).  If you have a history of cold sores systemic anti-viral medication may be recommended for several days prior to the peel.  You must also not have taken Accutane for a period of 12-18 months before a treatment.

Post-Peel Instructions

Mild redness is expected for several days after the peel.  For the next 7 to 10 days or so your skin will shed its dead, damaged layer.  You may not be able to see the peeling, but, when visible, the peeling begins 2-4 days after the chemical peel and usually lasts 3-7 days.  In addition, you may feel some mild tingling or itching.  Mild swelling is normal and may occur for up to 3 days.

To achieve the best results and minimize the risk of complications:

  1. Apply non-comedogenic moisturizer at least 2 times a day or as often as needed when your skin feels dry.
  2. If you plan to be outdoors, driving or in close proximity to windows, apply sunscreen with SPF 30 and higher. Avoid prolonged sun exposure between 10 AM and 3 PM.
  3. In carrying for the treated areas, use a gentle soapless cleanser like CeraVe, Cetaphil. Avoid scrubbing or using a wash cloth.
  4. DO NOT PICK OR PEEL OR SCRATCH the treated area as permanent scarring may result
  5. Do not undergo any other facial treatments for at least 14 days after the peel.
  6. You may apply cosmetics a day after the chemical peel unless a blister or a superficial ulcer develops. If a blister, a superficial ulceration or a scab develops, apply an antibiotic ointment Bactroban until the blister dries or new skin forms.  Do not pick the blister or a scab because a scar may form.
  7. To limit post-peel swelling, sleep on your back with your head elevated on a few pillows for the first few days.
  8. Ice packs, cool compresses can help to reduce post-procedural discomfort and swelling.
  9. Call our office if any problems, questions, or concerns arise.

Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite is the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that manifests as skin dimpling and nodularity, often on the buttocks, lower limbs, and abdomen.  Interrupted circulation of lymph and blood greatly contributes for appearance of cellulite.  Cellulite occurs in almost 95% of adult women.

Cellulite can result from a complex combination of factors ranging from hormones to heredity.  The causes of cellulite include changes in metabolism, physiology, diet and exercise habits, obesity, hormonal factors (especially estrogen), genetic factors, the microcirculatory system, and subtle inflammatory alterations.

While it is typically impossible to identify the multiple factors that cause cellulite in any given patient, Dr. Reszko and her team has substantial expertise in treatments that will improve the appearance of the affected areas.

Commonly employed treatment options for cellulite include:

  • ‘Subcision’ techniques utilizing a needle-sized microscalpel to cut through the causative fibrous bands of connective tissue
  • Injection of semi-permanent collagen biostimulators like hyperdiluted Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) and/or Sculptra (polylactic acid) to re-contour and lift to restore lost volume and skin irregularities to smooth out skin contour, reduce dimpling and stimulate new collagen synthesis within skin. One can think of biostimulatory fillers as “seeds” for collagen stimulation.

Biostimulatory fillers provides immediate and semi-permanent results without the bulky or “filled” look.   The treatment is easily performed with only topical anesthesia, and patients can return to their daily activities immediately.  Biostimulatory fillers works best for moderate to severe cases of cellulite on the buttocks, thighs, knees, inner arms and chest.

  • EMSCULPT works to help tone specific areas of the body and limit the appearance of cellulite by simultaneous stimulation of muscle and/or removal of fat.
  • Skin tightening technologies like Ultherapy and Vivace/Genius offering non-invasive, no “down-time” “body- lift” by stimulating new collagen and elastin synthesis deep within the skin for maximal structural support.

Combination treatments of the above technologies often offer superior benefits.

Aerolase for Acne

Aerolase NeoClear is a short pulse, 1064 nanometer laser that penetrates deep into the dermis to target acne, acne scarring and normalize skin.

Volume Loss

Facial volume loss combines with inelastic, aging skin that is unable to accommodate underlying structural changes, leading to the look of a “deflated balloon.” This leads to the development of deep lines, hollows, furrows, and thinning of the face. The loss and redistribution of fat in the temples results in the loss of natural convexity of the area. Loss of lateral and mid-face cheek fat leads to sagging and soft tissue loss in the mid face. Bone remodeling also plays a role. Decreased lateral brow support leads to sagging eyebrows, sunken maxilla (upper jaw) and deepening of nasolabial folds (“laugh lines”).

Therapy Options: fillers, own (“autologous”) fat transfer, facial implants.

Soft tissue injections with facial fillers may be used in many ways to address your individual concerns. In the past, nasolabial folds (facial “parentheses” at the sides of the mouth) were the most common injection site. Other areas of possible augmentation are listed below. Please note that some of the injection sites discussed below are “off-label” and not approved by the FDA.

  • Lateral eyebrows and temples to restore adequate brow support, “brow lift” and shaping.
  • Lifting of the upper face lifts the lower face as well, diminishing the appearance of jowls.
  • Periorbital volumizing diminishes the appearance of infraorbital hollows and under-eye dark circles.
  • Shape and structural irregularities of the nose can be addressed by non-surgical filler rhinoplasty.
  • Periorbital wrinkles, “smile lines,” the furrows that develop around the eyes, may be softened by filler injection.
  • Restoring cheek contour and lateral projection, volumetric reconstruction of the lateral cheek and cheekbones with filler material has a double benefit. First, it restores a more youthful cheek appearance; and second, replacing volume decreases sagging and soft tissue loss in the mid-face area. As a result, the prominence of nasolabial and the melolabial folds are reduced.
  • Nasolabial fold, facial “parentheses”— the lines that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth.
  • Melolabial folds, “parentheses” of the lower face — the lines that run from the corner of the lip to the chin.
  • Shape and structural irregularities of the chin can be addressed by non-surgical filler chin implant.
  • Soft tissue fillers are used to fill in and augment thin lips, restoring border and lip volume.
  • “Marionette lines” — the sad, downward expression that appears at the corners of the mouth with advanced age.
  • Jaw line where definition has been lost.
